Jacksonville pays tribute to the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Jacksonville celebrated the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. ahead of the civil rights icon's official holiday Monday with a gala breakfast tribute Friday at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.
The city of Jacksonville, NAACP, Urban League, JAX Chamber and Florida Blue planned the event with the theme "Audacious Faith in the Future," a phrase from King’s 1964 Nobel Prize acceptance speech.
The tribute featured keynote speaker Jonathan Eig, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "King: A Life." The book was awarded the New York Historical Society’s 2024 Barbara and David Zalaznick Book Prize, which is presented annually to the nation's best work of history or biography.
VyStar Credit Union's "2025 Tomorrow’s Leaders" winners also participated.
